giving...

So lately I've been getting a lot of things given to me.
Firstly- I was given a book from a lady at the markets. This happened right after I bought a beautiful hat rack for a friend of mine.
Secondly- I was given a sweet little Kodak 155 Instamatic Camera from an old man at the markets the week after I was given the book. The camera takes 126 Film which is extinct, but I recently met someone who quite liked this camera, so I gave it to her.
Thirdly- Kim was given some beautiful 60's mod fabric and a dress I can only describe as the 'asian green butterfly'.
I don't believe these events are a coincidence. I believe in living a generous life, of late Kim and I have been trying extra hard to be super generous with our time and our money. We are both considered by the Government as low income earners but together we aspire to not spending money on junk and buy our stuff from thrift shops or markets. We've been able to have enough money to support missionaries and visionaries. We get a lot more joy from giving than holding on to things.

Living life a Christian is a hard thing especially when the Bible calls us to live generous lives. But I am constantly surprised in how we are able to live a life of generosity, and I am not talking merely tithing (10% of ones earnings) and not be left wanting.
When we were dating Morgan used to drive me insane in the way he would not pay money for certain things, and sometimes still does. His attitude was often considered (by me and others) as cheap, but really, as I found out, he was saving his money by not spending it on unnecessary items, so he could share it with others in need. This has become one of my most loved and most annoying attitudes about morgan, but none the less he inspires me in my generosity, to share with those around me.
Although it is not much, I love having people round for dinner, and treating them to a beautiful, sometimes gourmet meal (it sure helps having a chef for a husband). I know how much I value going to other peoples houses, and not having to cook or clean up and just being a guest, with one job to do, enjoy the evening. This is one small way Morgan and I try to be generous. Each week we pick someone to come over for dinner to treat them, but also as a way for us to get to know people around us who we don't know very well, or to catch up with old friends.
This is something I cherish a lot, and hope we continue throughout our marriage.

i made: circle twirl skirt

So, i follow a number of blogs of people who do daily outfit posts. Working in an 8-5 office job (although in the creative department) can become kinda draining on your daily wardrobe, and so my monday to friday clothes are often pretty normal, everyday office clothes. So for me outfit posts are not that possible, but I decided I would like to post outfit posts of clothes I have made or adjusted. So here you go, my first outfit post.

I made this skirt a little while back from the burda style project 'lesley circle skirt'. It is such a simple easy pattern and makes a super comfy skirt. I made mine especially for work so chose a grey fabric with some weight. It's so great and goes with so much. If your looking for a little quick project to try, this one is a goer. Check it out.

Christmas time!

Source image

I work as a chaplain at two primary schools. I have just sent away 58 shoe boxes filled with with toys, teddy's, toothbrushes, soap, clothes and school supplies. At one school of 200 students we were able to send these 58 boxes to countries going through war, poverty or natural disasters. This is part of a project called Operation Christmas Child by Samaritans Purse. If you don't know who they are, check them out and maybe even make a shoebox next christmas. I was so blown away by how generous my little school was, it brought kids, staff and families together to think about someone else and get that generous spirit of Christmas flowing through the air in October.

I am so proud of my Husband. He has done an amazing job at inspiring his school to participate and think outside their community and has just dropped off 58 shoe-boxes of goodies for Operation Christmas Child. This little school has blown me away, and I'm sure it was because of the fantastic work of my Husband. Shucks he is amazing!!

sneaky post

So. Today i am sick. I left work and came home and slept the afternoon and now am home alone, enjoying a lazy night on the internet. I never get to do this, so it feels like such a treat.

Morgan and I have been doing each post together, which means it takes a while to sit down and work on this blog, but its also very special. I wanted to share a sneaky blog post while morgan was out, and write a little post about how amazing he is. (ps. i hope this isn't too lovely dovey, apologies in advance)

I am so fortunate to be married to morgan remy lukas.

Morgan looks after me so much, and truly keeps our lives going together. He makes me lunch and dinner practically EVERY day, and sometimes even breakfast, and offers these meal to me with such love and support. One day, when we were still dating, morgan crafted an incredible meal for me, and as he served it he told me... "When I make you these meal, this is me planting some flowers, and caring for them, and helping them grow, then selecting the right colours, and forming a bouquet and giving it to you. This is me buying you flowers." I love that. And each meal he makes, be it vegemite on toast or handmade ravioli with a pumpkin puree sauce, i try and remember that this is his gift for me.

Not only is morgan an amazing chef who I could never compete with, he is so encouraging and supportive of most of my craziness. There are some things he won't accept, like the days i can't be bothered getting dressed, and he helps me realise i need to wear clothes to work. He never enters into my attempts at arguing, but will always look for ways we can live life happy. This is amazing!

He is my strength.

We have so much fun together, and I am so excited to have him as my best friend who I get to have sleep overs with every night, and play games with every weekend.

I love the fact the some days i get so giddy and excited when i remember we are married, and we get to do this forever. i love being married to morgan!!

op shop finds.. OCTOBER

This week while morgan was on holidays (and i was at work) he went on an adventure and brought back some lovely treats from the op-shops. Morgan has a great skill of finding beautiful things in the mess of an op-shop. I have smashed a few of our dinner plates accidentally whilst doing the washing up (i am hardcore) so we no longer have a full set, so i was very excited to see this lovely set of 6 dinner plate he found. Plenty of room to smash a few more now. My sister also graciously let me have this beautiful bag she found and wanted, but let morgan buy it for me. I LOVE it.

I went to a little island halfway between the Sunshine Coast and Brisbane, it will remain unnamed for I believe it is a pretty well kept secret (although I found out about it). Anyway, today I went with my sister in-law and our friend to find all 8 op shops (within around 5 squared kilometres!). It was a great day with many finds and even a few things I had to leave behind. At the end of the day, Kims boss and a good friend of ours gave me an old Fujica Compact 35 camera which I am very excited about trying out seeing as I just bought some old 200 35mm film.
