Off to a great start....

house

Well we didn't plan on taking a little pause on the blog, but life happens and so did the break. This month has been a roller coaster for Morgan and I. We moved into our new place, after 13 months of living with others and in hotels and hostels, and settled into life in a new city. It has be so lovely to have our own space again and to start afresh. We have both been so excited to have a kitchen and have been loving having guests over so we can create lots of treats to eat. Its incredible the simple things you miss when you don't have your own home. We have been blown away by the kindness of our family and friends and are so refreshed to have these people back in our lives again.
Its funny to think that at times this move coming back to Australia seems crazier and more challenging that what we did packing up and heading to Europe. We really didn't know what we were going to do getting back here until we got the lease approved to move into our apartment. Morgan has picked up a great job with great hours and I am still on the hunt, but things have been falling into place that we have no doubt we are where we are meant to be.
In terms of this blog, we want to keep going. This was never a travel blog, but as we began moving around all the time, the blog followed in that direction too. We don't really know what our lives are going to look like this year, but I am sure that no matter what happens the blog will follow along for the ride.
Thank you so much to everyone who has been reading. As always it is a real privilege to have people read along and interact and share the journey with us.
We will be back soon with much more.

Surprise!

Well let me tell you a tale, as its Christmas Eve. Kim and I have been keeping a big secret for a while and now that everyone knows we can blog about it. We have decided to move back to Australia! What originally set out to be a holiday back home for Christmas has changed into a new beginning. Whilst looking at rental prices we found an amazing old unit in Brisbane that an old friend used to have, it's such a beauty that it was too hard not to apply for it. And once we got approved for it we decided we needed a car. After a lot of research and encouragement from other bloggers who have bought the same car we decided to buy the most expensive car we ever had, a Prius. We are so excited to save fuel on the hybrid vehicle and do our bit to save the environment. This is about as much of what we know the future holds for us, we will be looking for work in the big city and getting settled in. We are so excited to be home and had a lot of fun surprising friends and family the past few days. HUGS ALL ROUND. Where the blog is going to go from now.... Who knows, but sit tight. To all who have taken a moment to read this, Merry Christmas, please stay safe and we pray you find joy, peace and love this Christmas.

Christmas tunes

image

We have had a few people ask if we will have a new Christmas mix out again this year, but unfortunately because our computer is still broken we can't make one. However, that doesn't mean you don't get to have any new Christmas music this year... Sufjan Stevens has put out a great new Christmas album "Silver and Gold" which is just $15 for 59 beautiful tracks. If that isn't a Christmas bargain, I don't know what is. On the blogging front, Cesar has a new traditional mix out this year and so do the Gallo's, so check those two out.
Also if you are new around here, you can download our last two Christmas mixtapes here and here.
Only two weeks to go, so get your Christmas music pumping! Kim has been at it since October.

Living On Cloud Nine

cloud

Good friends of ours started production on a Documentary just as we left Australia at the end of last year. We have both been hanging out all year waiting to see the finished piece. Well the wait is over and we are so proud of our talented friends.
This documentary follows a group of young surfers heading overseas on a surf trip/life changing look at poverty. If you have a spare 30 mins please watch it.

Alsace Vineyard

Vineyard

Well we have hit the halfway mark of our job here in Alsace. We have made so many friends from so many areas around the world. We have eaten so many potatoes and traditional hearty dishes from the area that it becomes quite hard to get back into the rhythm of work in the afternoon. Yesterday we had a day off and visited Struthoff, a concentration camp not far from here, but more on that later. Life here is pretty good, the view is always amazing, the wine at night is last years harvest of the grapes we pick in the day and the conversations are a plenty. It's going to be hard to leave at the end of the week, but we have an exciting adventure in Eastern Europe to look forward to. So for now we will continue working hard and eating even harder.

London, England

London, England

Well, we are back in Paris for the week after a lovely long weekend in London. We caught up with an old friend from Australia and together we all discovered new parts of this huge city together. Some of our favourite things include seeing Beirut live at the HMV Apollo, carpark/rooftop pop up art display and restaurant, brick lane curries and doing a few things off Brian Ferry's list.

Well as our time here in Oslo comes to an end we look back with such joy at our time here. Honourable mention to our super host Adeline for a saweet week. Not only did she house us in her awesome apartment, but being a certified tour guide and knower of all things coffee and fun, made for some rad times. Boating, tram-ing, busing and walking around this beautiful city streets, museums and coffee shops has left our hearts filled with joy and our wallets emptier than when we came. This is a place we would come back to with PLEASURE...

Scotland Countryside

Scotland

On our way to Glasgow we stopped to stay a night at one of Kims old friends from Melbourne. They live in a small sea side town and hour north of Glasgow and even drove us in to spend the day in Glasgow. It was so nice to spend time with Eliza and her husband Tim and learn about Scotland, beer, whisky, folk music and share our many stories of travel. Our highlight, sitting in an old pub lounge listening to 6 or more old and young Scots playing traditional folk music. Here are a few shots from around West Kilbride, Tim and Eliza's lovely neck of the woods.

Château au Cerilly

Chateaux au Cerilly, France

Morgan and I had the privilege of being able to stay 2 nights at a friend of a friends Château in Cerily. It was pretty special sleeping in a Castle and we had the most amazing beautiful room. Definatly the most impressive accommodation we have had in our travels so far. We took the time to relax and enjoy the space, as well as explore the enormous Forest of Tronçais.
We are now back in Orleans and catching up again with Morgan's Aunty. Its strange being here again in a different season. The city is quite different to what it was like back in January. Tomorrow we head to Lardy, as we make our way back to Paris.

Lyon

Lyon

We have had a lovely 4 days in Lyon. We were very fortunate to be able to stay at a friend of a friend's cousins apartment in the best area of town, while they are off travelling. We spent our days walking up and down the cobbled streets, exploring the parks, enjoying the views from the top of the hills and eating great meals. When we arrived on Monday night we got see Bon Iver play an incredible show in and old Roman amphitheater. It was amazing. Today we are heading north again, and off to Dijon for a couple of days.

Lac d'Esparron

image

On Monday some friends invited us to join them Canoeing around Lac d'Esparron. This lake is absolutely incredible and the colour is the water is breathtaking. We didn't want to take our cameras out on the water, so just have a few phone snaps to share. It was lovely to canoe and swim in the fresh cold water after many hot summer days. We felt very relaxed to sit and have a picnic drinking rose, watching over the lake.

what a week!

photo1

It has been quite a roller-coaster week for us. Our last post proved a little hopeful and things didn't turn out quite as we had expected. Our friend had an accident on a motorbike which meant he wasn't able to install the new engine for us. We were stuck in Biarritz for 5 days until the neighbour from the farm we were working on came to our rescue and fixed our car for us. What a legend! On Thursday we were able to hit the road and start our way back to Avignon. It was a long drive but the car worked a treat and we are so happy to have our car back again. We are now back in the Provence and there is Lavender and Cicadas chirping everywhere. It is nice to be back.

ressurection renault

Renult 4L

Some of you may know but when in Biarritz our beloved Renault 4L died. A piston had blown and metal had gone throughout the oil and engine. This happened a few days before leaving for farm life 200km away. We left it in the hands of our new friend Rico, an old German rocker, who lives in Biarritz with whom we speak English. Rico initially was going to help us sell it as scrap and we would hitchhike the rest of the way home to Avignon (500km), but called one day to say he found a new engine for only 150euro!!! We are so happy to say we will be picking her up this weekend to take her on the road again. We have many more journeys around france to have with her and we just hope she treats us well.

this week.

IMG_4859

This weekend just gone, we moved to a new location where we will be spending our final week here in Biarritz. We are now living with some friends of ours from Australia (a family of 7), and helping them prepare for the opening of their second hostel in July. So far we have been painting, assembling bunk beds, and cleaning lots. All great fun. This Sunday we will be heading inland to work on the farm, so we are trying to make the most of the beach and enjoy our time with english speakers.
